The Mandalorian Season 3 Will Reportedly Resurrect IG-11

There's a lot of excitement right now for the third season of The Mandalorian following the successful run of the first two seasons and, recently, The Book of Boba Fett which gave us a hint on what we might see in Din Djarin and Grogu's next adventure in the galaxy far, far away. As usual, the plot details for the upcoming season are still under wraps. But according to a new rumor, it looks like we might see the return of a beloved dead character.

According to Making Star Wars, IG-11 will be returning in the third season of The Mandalorian. Of course, you might be wondering about how it will return given its death during the first season finale. Apparently, it will serve as a "mech suit" for Grogu, who will sit inside its chest. The droid will be controlled by the foundling and will act as his "Jarvis" since it will give him data on probabilities of success and protect him as he goes into fights, especially in the battle at Mandalore. Taika Waititi is expected to return as the voice of the character.

We do have to take note that this report hasn't been confirmed by anyone involved in the series so we have to take this with a grain of salt. However, there is a plausible reason to believe that it is true. After all, while it might be jarring to hear that they are resurrecting the character, it is a droid so they can reprogram or refigure it into another version. In addition, IG-11 was one of the fan-favorite characters of the first season so they might have decided to bring it back as some sort of fan service.

Based on the description, it also sounds like a cool way to bring back IG-11 and give it another life. It would also give a great purpose in the story since it will serve as Grogu's protector which would be necessary since they are going to have a battle in Mandalore and he is still a youngling so his training skills might not be enough for it.

It would also be a full-circle moment for Grogu since he has fear of droids thanks to what happened during Order 66. During the first season, we saw that he became closer with IG-11 and accepted him despite his fear. With this, it could be a good character arc for Grogu as well. Of course, we have to wait for the third season to find out if this information is actually true.
