It's another action-packed Star Wars Wednesday, thanks to The Mandalorian Season 3 Episode 3 which opened with Din Djarin and Bo-Katan Kryze taking on numerous Imperial ships. However, Chapter 19: The Convert also showed us a different side of another story as we finally learned what happened to Moff Gideon with the help of Doctor Penn Pershing's return.
In Star Wars: The Mandalorian Season 3 Episode 3, it was revealed that Doctor Pershing has been accepted into the New Republic's Amnesty Program which takes in people who used to work for the Galactic Empire and employs them in archiving (and destroying) Imperial technology. Interestingly, Pershing discovers that he lives in the same building as a former Imperial officer who worked for Moff Gideon.
It is Pershing who reveals to the other people in Amnesty Housing that the woman used to work for Gideon and they happen to have tea to spill. One officer says that he heard a rumor that Gideon had escaped en route to the War Tribunal but another claims it's just a cover story because Gideon was actually subjected to a mind flayer. The woman, whose name is later revealed to be Elia Kane, says she tries not to think about her former boss' fate.
So what really happened to Moff Gideon? There's a possibility that he did manage to escape and is operating ... somewhere. Also, it's possible that his former communications officer (her name has finally been revealed to be Elia Kane) is still working for him and has infiltrated the New Republic so they could acquire what Pershing tried to steal and immediately subject him to the mind flayer so keep everything secret.
At this point, Moff Gideon's fate is still a mystery but fans are expecting to see him again in the third season. However, we have yet to see Giancarlo Esposito reprise his role in The Mandalorian Season 3. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.
The Mandalorian Season 3 Episode 3 is now streaming on Disney+.
