A few weeks ago, we learned the exciting news from Lucasfilm that The Mandalorian & Grogu is set to be the next Star Wars movie with the show's creator Jon Favreau directing and co-writing the script with Dave Filoni.

Fans were both surprised and delighted by the announcement since they will be able to witness Din Djarin and Grogu's next adventure on the big screen. However, it is unknown yet whether it is an indication that the fourth season of the Disney+ series is no longer happening.

So far, most of the details regarding the movie remain scarce, but it is slated to begin production later this year.

Now, we finally have a confirmation of when the film is expected to arrive in theaters.

During the company's recent earnings call, Disney CEO Bob Iger confirmed that The Mandalorian & Grogu will be the first of the new Star Wars movie slate and it is set to arrive in theaters in 2026.

However, he didn't reveal which specific date the movie is slated to release, but it is likely going to be on May 22, 2026, since Disney has reserved it for a Star Wars movie.

We've been hearing reports for a while now that Disney and Lucasfilm were circling that release window for The Mandalorian & Grogu and now we finally have the confirmation that we've been waiting for.

Considering that the movie will begin production later this year, a May 2026 release date makes sense since they will have enough time to do filming and post-production and conduct a global marketing campaign to remind the audience that Star Wars is back on the big screen.

It is also looking like they are putting the movie into the summer season since it is the time when there are a lot of moviegoers who go to theaters and has huge potential to be a major box office hit.

Hopefully, there won't be any delays or obstacles that will prevent them from reaching that target and we should be hearing more updates in the coming months regarding its release.

The first three seasons of The Mandalorian are available to stream on Disney+.
