The exclusive D23 footage of The Mandalorian & Grogu has confirmed that a fan-favorite character from Rebels will be making an appearance in the film.

Earlier this year, Lucasfilm announced that Din Djarin and Grogu are jumping to the big screen for their next adventure. The film is now slated to be Star Wars' next theatrical project after The Rise of Skywalker in 2019.

So far, the majority of the plot details are still under wraps, but it is expected to continue the events of the Disney+ series which wrapped its third (and so far the most recent) season last year.

An exclusive footage of The Mandalorian & Grogu was recently shown in front of the attendees at the recent D23 panel.

Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni, who were present on stage to unveil the footage, also confirmed that the film has already started production.

The footage revealed that Rebels fan-favorite character Zeb Orrelios will be making an appearance in the film. He previously made his live-action debut in an episode of The Mandalorian season 3.

Din Djarin's ship Razor Crest is also set to make its comeback after it was destroyed by Moff Gideon in the second season. It is unknown yet how it will be brought back in the film.

The responses to the footage were mostly positive and it hyped up fans who have been looking forward to the show's transition to the big screen.

While we don't know yet whether Zeb will have a major part in the film or not, it is exciting that he will be part of the adventure and, hopefully, we will be seeing other Rebels characters make an appearance as well in some capacity.

This also shows that the film is committed to making sure that it will be a satisfying experience for fans and it will be a worthy comeback for the franchise on the big screen after years of absence.

It will take a while before we'll learn more details about the film as production is still ongoing, but we are seeing promising signs that it will deliver what fans are expecting from a Din Djarin and Grogu big-screen adventure.

The Mandalorian & Grogu is slated for release in theaters on May 22, 2026.
