One of the best things about The Last of Us Episode 6 was the emotional reunion between Joel and Tommy. After all, Joel has been trying to get to his brother since the premiere episode and was understandably relieved to see that Tommy is alive and well. Amazingly, one of the key scenes involving the brothers was rewritten by Pedro Pascal and Gabriel Luna to provide a truly emotional moment.

In The Last of Us Episode 6, Joel and Tommy finally reunited in Jackson, Wyoming. However, their happiness soon grew sour when Joel learns that Tommy is going to be a father and couldn't help him take Ellie to the Fireflies.

It was an emotional scene and Gabriel Luna told Entertainment Weekly that he and Pedro Pascal changed things up in the sequence.

"In that session, Pedro and I completely rewrote the scene. We didn't change a single letter. We just restructured the way that this scene unfolds," Luna said, crediting co-showrunner Craig Mazin for writing the amazing scene.

"Craig being the mensch and the incredible artist that he is, he was like, 'This is better.' It made it feel right in terms of the way we hit each of these beats: how I eventually build the courage to stand up to [Joel] and tell him the truth and tell him what is an extremely joyful thing for me but potentially a very hurtful thing for him to hear, that I was gonna be a father," he said.

"That was pretty much the only scene on the slate that whole day. It was just Pedro and I being brothers and doing what brothers do: laughing, joking, needling each other, and eventually fighting," Luna shared.

We're certainly glad that Pedro Pascal and Diego Luna collaborated to make the scene even better. Needless to say, it was amazing to see the interaction between Joel and Tommy in the episode.

The Last of Us Episode 6 is now streaming on HBO Max.
