The Last of Us Episode 6 is finally here and things got interesting for Joel and Ellie. After finding Tommy in a settlement in Jackson, the duo continued on their way to look for the Fireflies only to meet some trouble. Amazingly, Kin concluded with the fan-favorite song that played at the end of the season premiere but this time, the consequences are even direr.

In The Last of Us Episode 6, Joel and Ellie continued on their way to Wyoming where they come across an elderly couple who have isolated themselves amidst the post-apocalypse. The man, played by screen veteran Graham Greene, warns them against continuing on their way west and advises them to go east.

Naturally, Joel ignores the warning and they move west where they find a dam and are stopped by a group on horseback. They are taken back to the group's settlement where Joel is reunited with Tommy.

It is then revealed that Tommy has married Maria who is pregnant. Joel, who had been suffering from panic attacks and nightmares, tearfully tries to convince Tommy to take Ellie to the Fireflies. Although Tommy reluctantly agrees, Joel later changes his mind after a heated argument with Ellie.

Joel and Ellie make their way to Colorado but discover that the Fireflies have abandoned their base and they are attacked by a raider. Although Joel manages to kill the man, he is stabbed with a broken baseball bat and later faints from blood loss.

The distraught Ellie begs Joel to wake up but he doesn't respond. As the camera pans away from them, an acoustic cover of Depeche Mode's Never Let Me Down Again plays over the credits.

We've heard this song before in the premiere episode as the track that signifies trouble over the radio. However, hearing the slower, more haunting cover of Never Let Me Down Again added a heartbreaking layer to Joel and Ellie's situation.

The Last of Us Episode 6 is now streaming on HBO Max.
