The Last of Us Episode 4 Breaks Another Viewership Record on HBO

The Last of Us has been killing it on HBO’s streaming platform as it has not only made history on just its premiere episode, but is now continuing to grow its viewership with The Last of Us Episode 4!

The Last of Us Episode 4
finally featured one of the best things about Ellie in the Naughty Dog video game: her joke book, and our introduction to new characters, Henry and Sam as a cliffhanger. The episode garnered 7.5 million viewers on Sunday, as confirmed by HBO and HBO Max, which set an impressive 17% increase from The Last of Us Episode 3. HBO also noted that The Last of Us Episode 4’s viewership numbers are a 60% increase since its premiere in January this year.

Apart from its game-accurate depiction from the video game to bringing it to life on TV, the streaming site has even confirmed The Last of Us Season 2 renewal has been issued ahead of finishing Season 1. There is no doubt that the series could only go high up from here, seeing as The Last of Us Episode 5 will be showing another pivotal moment with Henry and Sam and the introduction of a new form of the Infected: the Bloater.

In the game, Henry and Sam ended up meeting Joel and Ellie along the way, sharing a similar goal of reaching the camp of the Fireflies, in hopes of finding a sanctuary amid the apocalypse. Unfortunately, they end up suffering from a most tragic fate, which we will be seeing once episode 5 gets released this week.

The Last of Us Episode 5 has been confirmed to be released two days ahead of its scheduled date on Sunday. Instead of this Sunday, episode 5 will be available to stream on HBO on Friday, seeing as the Super Bowl could disrupt the viewership record on the series.

The Last of Us Episode 4 is now available to stream on HBO Max.
