The Last of Us Actor Wants to Take on a Major Star Wars Hero

Despite only being on the air recently, HBO's series adaptation of the well-known video game The Last of Us has already achieved its first milestone, becoming the cable channel's second-largest debut in the last 13 years, trailing only Game of Thrones' prequel House of the Dragon.

The Last of Us which premiered last Sunday, introduced viewers to the endearing duo of Pedro Pascal as Joel and Bella Ramsey as Ellie. Aside from them, the zombie drama also features Gabriel Luna, who plays Tommy Miller. In a recent interview, Luna opened up about waiting for a Star Wars role to come his way as he made his mark in The Last of Us.

Speaking with The Last of Pods, Luna revealed that it has always been his dream to bring a live-action Ezra Bridger from Star Wars Rebels to life.

“I wrote a letter to Dave [Filoni] a while back and it's a dream of mine. I mean, there's all kinds of possibilities there. I was just talking to Neil at the party and I was like, 'Yeah, Neil [Druckmann], until we do that, until that time comes when it's time for Star Wars,' and I'm just wishful thinking and hoping, but once again, I will always prepare as if I have the job. If that day should ever come, I'll be ready.” he narrated.

Luna continued, "This was me throwing my hat in for a certain Ezra Bridger. This was years ago, not ever knowing if they would ever do anything with Ezra. But it was just, that's one, he's probably my, besides Luke, he's my favorite character. Well, actually, I'm sorry, R2, Luke, Ezra Bridger."

Luna first earned major acclaim with his role as Robbie Reyes in Agents of SHIELD before branching out to other roles such as Gabriel in Terminator: Dark Fate. Now, he tends to continue his way to stardom as he patiently waits for a major role in the Star Wars universe after auditioning.

Ezra's journey remains unfinished when Star Wars Rebels ends. He has not been seen again in the years since the episode in which he and Thrawn just vanished into the abyss together. The original trilogy would have been considerably different if Ezra hadn't disappeared, yet Ezra will not be difficult to bring forth at any time since he has a lot of unanswered questions about his narrative.

The current theory hints that Ezra might appear in Ahsoka since Sabine Wren, Ezra's former partner, will appear in the live-action Disney+ series. With Luna showing interest in the role, Star Wars bosses might hear him and tune in to his wishes.
