Pedro Pascal Expresses Interest in Playing a Marvel Superhero

When an actor is already a part of a big franchise like Game of Thrones or Star Wars, the initial reaction of the audience is to campaign for them to star in some more well-known narratives. Pedro Pascal, who’s already part of the Westeros and intergalactic universes, has recently expressed enthusiasm to also join the superhero world through Marvel Studios.

Pascal has already graced the DCEU when he portrayed Ed Indelicato in the unsold 2011 pilot of Wonder Woman and Max Lord in the 2020 movie Wonder Woman 1984; however, the actor revealed to WIRED how he would want to assume Marvel’s "traditional" roles, with all the capes and CGI. “I do want that. I want to be in movies,” he said.

Pascal's first taste of success came in 2014, when he appeared as Oberyn Martellf or a one-season stint in the critically acclaimed fantasy series Game of Thrones. However, his lead role in the Star Wars series The Mandalorian catapulted him to stardom. His Din Djarin will be reunited with fans in March when the third season airs on Disney+.

Given Pascal’s interest in pursuing a MCU role, fans are already brainstorming which superhero he can bring to life. The X-Men character Gambit is one of the names that first got tossed around because of his opportunistic and slick persona, which the Mandalorian star would have no difficulty portraying on screen.

Richard Rider (Nova) is another hero that fans are campaigning for the Game of Thrones star to commit to because Pascal prefers to wear a helmet on The Mandalorian and Nova notoriously obtains his power from a helmet, so it would be easy for the actor to execute what he must.

With his interest to play a superhero, the actor also discussed the current state of the world and how a little act of heroism is very much needed. “There’s so many ways to misunderstand people and to forget that, at the end of the day, your neighbor is very likely to give you the shirt off their own back.”

He continued, “But then you can go and look shit up and be terrified by how divided we all apparently are. To comfort myself, I just remember that everybody I come in contact with is sort of, in their own way, heroically kind.”

Fans can expect another hotshot performance from Pascal when he hits the screen on Sunday, January 15 when The Last of Us premieres on HBO Max.
