It is real, it is here, Steve Rogers is not Captain America anymore and Marvel really has its way of reminding everyone that he is gone. With Sam Wilson finally taking over as the new Captain America after The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, the Eternals, although they are age-old beings, are up to date with what is happening in the world.

In the recently released trailer of Eternals, just before it ends, we see the Eternals sit down for a meal when Sprite opened up a topic that surely made the ears of Marvel fans ring, Sprite said, "now that Captain Rogers and Iron Man are both gone, who do you think is gonna lead the Avengers?" and Ikaris answered, "I can lead them." As the camera focuses on Thena whose eyes seemingly tell something, the Eternals burst into laughter.

It was a funny scene, indeed, but what really caught the attention of the fans is how Steve Rogers was called "Captain Rogers" and not "Captain America." As Sam Wilson now wields the shield, the news surely reached the Eternals impliedly as they acknowledge that the title of being the star-spangled hero now belongs to someone else.

Also, with such a reference, it explains that the title of "Captain America" is a legacy title that could be passed on from one hero to another. Calling him "Captain Rogers" also gives him a persona different from the moniker and that is one that does not interfere with the current bearer of the title. It could be remembered that Steve Rogers was also a soldier following Erskine's super-soldier experiment from which Rogers received the title of a captain in the military.

Most fans are happy about the reference and acknowledged the change in the person holding the moniker. The internet broke and "Captain Rogers" trends on social media after the release of the trailer. Check out some tweets below:

However, with the very statement of Sprite that Ironman and Captain Rogers are gone, some felt sentimental having to face the reality that their favorite heroes are now gone. Yes, it is really hard to move on from that. They've been with the MCU since the very start and now that they are gone, they will forever be missed. Here are some of the tweets of fans remembering the loss:
