Comic book film fans don't know how to lose as Marvel Studios, fresh from the success of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier has dropped the first full trailer for the upcoming Phase 4 offering Eternals. The film will revolve around the titular heroes who have guarded the cosmos since the dawn of time but choose to operate secretly, not interfering with mankind's affairs.
The mesmerizing trailer is already establishing that there's some sort of connection between the Eternals and the Avengers which of course isn't all that baffling considering this is a shared universe we're talking about after all. However, it's safe to assume that the cosmic beings and the Earth's Mightiest Heroes have never officially crossed paths but the impact and influence the MCU's premier superhero team has is undeniable, so much so that the Eternals have apparently taken notice.
During the latter part of the trailer, it is revealed that the film is set after the events of Avengers: Endgame as Sprite (Lia McHugh) asks the team which hero is going to lead the Avengers now that both Iron Man and Captain America (Steve Rogers) are gone. Ikaris later chimes in and says that he'll have no problem leading the Earth's Mightiest Heroes much to the amusement of his cosmic teammates.
Of course, he was probably just joking but you know, you can never say never in the MCU. Realistically speaking though, the chances of Ikaris replacing Tony Stark and Steve Rogers are pretty slim at this point, and if anything, he has his own problems to deal with as part of the Eternals who will most likely be working covertly as opposed to being out in the open like the Avengers.
Eternals hits cinemas this November.
