The Flash’s Jesse Quick Talks New Powers & Flashpoint Effect

When The Flash debuted for its third season, the biggest talk had been the effect of Flashpoint, which threw many of the characters in for a loop unknowingly.

But it appears that the change is isolated to Earth-1, and now that Earth-2 residents Jesse Quick (Violett Beane) and Harrison Wells (Tom Cavanagh) have returned to Earth-1 for some quick training, they're in for a surprise.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Beane revealed a few new insights going into the Flashpoint universe, starting with confirming the origin of her powers. We all know that there must've been some effect when she and Wally West (Keiynan Lonsdale) were hit but the explosion of the particle accelerator from season 2. And now, Beane stated that the change in her is only a result of that very event.

"As far as Flashpoint goes, I'm pretty sure it only affects one world, the world that Barry changed the timeline for. I'm pretty sure it doesn't carry over to other worlds. The Jesse and Wells you're seeing are the Jesse and Wells of last season."

What we can see is a Speedster who is very excited about her powers. According to Beane, as a teenager, she is very receptive and positive about it. So it's also not a surprise that Overprotective Daddy Wells will be very concerned by this display of powers, which brings the reason why they went back to Earth-1.

"Ultimately, the reason we come back is to train, to hone in one these powers, and to make sure Jesse isn't being crazy with them. He's the protective father always, that comes first, but at the same time, he does love that she has this ability, and feels good about it."

Beane also gives some hints on probably the biggest question on every West and Jesse shippers: will we see some romance unfold?

While she didn't say anything about romance, she did confirm that there will be some flirtation going on. Considering the events that unfolded in the previous season with the dark matter explosion, their dynamics may continue this season as well.

Hopefully, we'll see Jesse don her own suit this season. Beane had already hinted that this will happen sometime.

The Flash airs Tuesdays on The CW.
