In less than two weeks, The Flash will finally arrive in theaters after years of development and several release delays mostly due to the COVID-19 pandemic. So far, the film is receiving positive reactions from critics and industry insiders who have seen it early.

However, there is also an elephant in the room behind it as its lead star Ezra Miller is a subject of several controversies and is also involved in a legal battle. So far, they haven't publicly made any interviews or press for the film leading to its release.

Now, we have the full details on Miller's minimal role in the film's massive marketing campaign.

A recent report from Variety laid out some details on Miller's minimal role in The Flash's marketing campaign where they confirmed that they won't be doing any press for the film.

However, the actor is expected to have a low-profile appearance during the film's Los Angeles premiere this coming June 12 for photo-ops and won't be participating in interviews. Andy Muschietti, Ben Affleck, Sasha Calle, and Michael Shannon will also be in attendance.

Unfortunately, Michael Keaton and Jason Momoa won't be hitting the red carpet as they are filming abroad in London and New Zealand respectively. The former is currently shooting the highly-anticipated Beetlejuice 2.

As we have seen for decades, the lead star is usually the face of a film's global marketing campaign where they participate in interviews, magazine profiles, and many more appearances to promote the film. Miller's case is unprecedented since their absence will break the usual tradition.

"Ezra wants the movie to open and the conversation to be about the movie and not about Ezra. They are focused on their mental health and don’t want it to be transactional," said a source cited in the article.

The film is currently being projected to earn an estimated $75 million at its opening weekend box office which is softer than the usual that we've seen for a big-budget comic book movie although the buzz could level it up closer to the release.

More Details About The Flash's Ending and the Plans Beyond

The report also revealed that Warner Bros. has been trying to keep the ending a huge secret as the recent screenings in Burbank blurred out key elements of the final scene. It was also missing during the CinemaCon screening last April.

A script for the sequel has also been finished by David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick in case it will be given a green light by the studio although that remains uncertain with the changes that are coming in the DCU franchise under James Gunn and Peter Safran.

Muschietti already iterated recently that Miller will not be recast in the role in case a sequel will happen.

These are all interesting details to hear as we're getting closer to the release of the film and it's also not surprising that Miller was being kept in the dark as fans have noticed their lack of participation in any promotional material.

It remains to be seen whether it will all affect the outcome of the film in its box office and audience reception and whether the plans for the sequel will also come to fruition as a result.
