The Falcon and The Winter Soldier's New Captain America Admits He Doesn't Read the Comics

Most actors working on comic book adaptations usually do some research before taking on their roles. However, Wyatt Russell has admitted that he didn't do the same. The star of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier revealed that he hasn't been reading up on his character although he is currently playing the new Captain America.

Russell recently spoke to Entertainment Weekly where he admitted that he never read comics as a child. The Overlord star pointed out that his friends didn't read comic books as well. This was because Russell grew up playing hockey and his interests were different.

Although he has never read comic books or even watched a Marvel Cinematic Universe film, Russell did admit that he checked the comic artwork for his character to get an idea of John's appearance.

"Your shoulders are a bit more rolled forward," Russell said. "It's just a little bit more bull."

Russell certainly has a different approach from the other actors who have joined the MCU. On the other hand, it could work for him considering that not a lot of people know about John Walker. Hopefully, his portrayal of the character will be a memorable one.

Interestingly, the new Captain America isn't very popular with fans as well as the other MCU characters. In the latest episode of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, Sam Wilson and Bucky Barnes immediately dislike the guy although he tried to help them twice in The Star-Spangled Man.

So is John going to be something of a villain in The Falcon and The Winter Soldier? We'll find out in the next episode of the MCU series.

The second episode of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier is now streaming on Disney+.
