The English may have started filming in May 2021, with principal photography wrapping up by September 2021. The scenes for the series were taken in several locations around Spain.
The English Cast: Who are the Actors Included in The English?
The English has a stellar cast, led by Emily Blunt (from The Devil Wears Prada, Mary Poppins, and Edge of Tomorrow), who will play Cornelia Locke, a British aristocratic lady who is out to avenge her son's death. This will be Blunt's first time working on a television series after acting exclusively on the big screen for several years.
Blunt will be joined by Chaske Spencer (known for his role in the Twilight Saga), who will play Eli Whipp, an ex-cavalry Pawnee traveling across America.
The rest of the cast includes Stephen Rea as Sheriff Robert Marshall and Valerie Pachner as Martha Myers. We will also see Rafe Spall, Tom Hughes, Toby Jones, and Ciaran Hinds.

The English was written and directed by Hugo Blick, who is also an executive producer of the series.
In an interview with Vogue, Blick commented about the dynamic of the series' heroes.
I find the most interesting Westerns tend to be about personal loss and the restoration of justice. Perhaps what's most interesting about The English is who it chooses as its two heroes, an Englishwoman and a Native American man, and the precise nature of justice they're both looking to restore.
The other executive producers of the show are Emily Blunt, Greg Brenman, and Mona Qureshi. Federic Jusid wrote the score for the series, with Arnau Valls Colomer heading the cinematography.

The English Plot: What Will be the Plot The English?
The Amazon Prime series is set in the 1890s when America was still an unknown land. Lady Cornelia, Blunt's character, travels through the country to find the man she believes killed her son. She is joined by Eli Whipp, played by Spencer, who accompanies her through her travels but has his own agenda.
Amazon Prime Studios wrote the following about the series when they released the first looks for the series:
An epic chase Western, The English takes the core themes of identity and revenge to tell a uniquely compelling parable on race, power, and love. An aristocratic Englishwoman, Lady Cornelia Locke (Blunt), and a Pawnee ex-cavalry scout, Eli Whipp (Spencer), come together in 1890 mid-America to cross a violent landscape built on dreams and blood. Both of them have a clear sense of their destiny, but neither is aware that it is rooted in a shared past. They must face increasingly terrifying obstacles that will test them to their limits, physically and psychologically. But as each obstacle is overcome, it draws them closer to their ultimate destination—the new town of Hoxem, Wyoming. It is here, after an investigation by the local sheriff Robert Marshall (Stephen Rea, The Shadow Line) and young widow Martha Myers (Valerie Pachner, A Hidden Life) into a series of bizarre and macabre unsolved murders, that the full extent of their intertwined history will be truly understood, and they will come face-to-face with the future they must live.
