After its long-awaited return a few months ago, fans of the series will be happy to know that The Devil Is a Part-Timer! Season 3 is coming this July, meaning the wait for the next season won’t be as long as the previous gap.
The announcement of the third season’s release was among the many shows which were highlighted at AnimeJapan 2023.
While it’s debatable which show was the most anticipated, it’s pretty clear that The Devil Is a Part-Timer!’s third season has the most ridiculous title.
The Devil Is a Part-Timer! Season 3
The first season of The Devil Is a Part-Timer! was released back in 2013, and it became quite a hit among fans for its unique premise where a demon lord gets transported into the real world. In a way, its premise is a reverse isekai.
Despite Season 1 being a moderate success, it did not get renewed immediately for a second season.
The wait turned from months to years, with many fans believing there to be no hope for another season.
Unexpectedly though, a second season was announced back in 2021, with the main cast returning to voice their respective characters.
This was something that pretty much everyone didn’t expect, especially considering that the light novel source material has ended back in 2013.
Typically, anime adaptations are made to promote their source material, so something like this rarely happens.
It seems that the second season has become a big enough hit that it was renewed for a third season shortly after the last episode aired.

What’s Up With The Devil Is a Part-Timer! Season 3’s Title?
Despite technically being the third, this next season is billed in the new trailer as the second season. It’s confusing for sure, but there is a reason for it.
The first season is officially titled The Devil Is a Part-Timer! while the second is The Devil Is a Part-Timer!! (with two exclamation marks).
This makes Season 3 the “second season” for The Devil Is a Part-Timer!!.
Yes, it’s a ridiculous and confusing titling scheme. Though the logic behind it is probably that the second and third seasons are animated by studio 3Hz instead of White Fox.
The title may be aiming to emphasize that the new season is a direct follow-up to the second in terms of its production.
Confusing naming aside, The Devil Is a Part-Timer! will return in July as part of the Summer 2023 anime season lineup.
