With The Boys securing a fifth season even before its Season 4 premiere, fans can’t help but wonder if there is more for the Supes in the future despite showrunner Eric Kripke’s original five-season plan.
Speaking with Inverse, he seemingly backtracks on his idea to possibly give way to more The Boys after Season 5: “I have learned since then to not try to call the seasons as the person who, and this is without hyperbole, is literally the most wrong in entertainment history of how many seasons their show should go,” he says.

After the Season 2 finale four years ago, Kripke revealed on X that he was looking at five seasons for the hit Prime Video series. However, he was already aware of his foresight limitations: “I also know better than to say how many seasons a show is gonna have, because my last show Supernatural, I said five seasons for sure,” he shared back then.
Supernatural went on to run for 15 seasons from 2005 to 2020, with 327 episodes.
What storyline could future The Boys seasons explore?
Kripke admits that he does not even know what Season 5 will look like but teases that the writers have discussed “some crazy sh-t." “We're about a month into the writers’ room right now, so we have some pretty cool notions,” he shares in a separate interview. "It's a very raw lava-esque deal right now. It hasn't hardened into anything, but I'm excited.”

Meanwhile, Season 4 raises the stakes with The Boys leader Billy Butcher (Karl Urban) being revealed to have a few months to live amid his ongoing struggle to turn his wife’s son Ryan (Cameron Crovetti) into the light. The team of vigilantes has their hands full this season as Supes Victoria Neuman (Claudia Doumit) and Homelander (Antony Starr) are increasing their influence.
The first three episodes of The Boys Season 4 will be available to stream on Prime Video starting June 13.
