A snippet from The Blacklist Season 9 Episode 1 was released during Tawfiq’s interview with PIX11 News. And it shows Dembe working at a construction site.
An unnamed man tells Dembe that he will propose to his girl, Elizabeth, though they have only known each other for two weeks.
Dembe immediately remembers Liz when his colleague mentions the name Elizabeth. And he told him that he also knows a woman named Elizabeth.
The unnamed man thinks that Dembe and Liz are also a couple just like him and his Elizabeth. But Dembe explains that Liz was his friend, and she died two years ago.
By the looks of it, this wouldn’t be the only mention of Liz in The Blacklist Season 9 Episode 1. Red will most likely mention the deceased character, especially because Liz will have an impact on his decision as to whether to work with the FBI task force again.
Hisham Tawfiq Reveals He Signed On For Just One Episode Of The Blacklist
In The Blacklist, Tawfiq plays the role of Red’s loyal right-hand man, Dembe.
During the interview, Tawfiq revealed that he wasn’t supposed to be a regular in the hit NBC series. After all, he was just asked to appear in one episode, and then the creators asked him to return for another installment.
After appearing in two episodes, the creators asked him to be part of an entire season of The Blacklist. And next thing he knew, he became a series regular, and his character is an integral part of the series.
How Will Dembe Support Red After Liz’s Death In The Blacklist Season 9?
In The Blacklist Season 8Liz was killed off, and Red and Dembe witnessed what went down. Dembe was the one that pulled Red from the scene, possibly because he was worried that Liz’s death would affect Red’s health negatively.
It is still unclear if Red and Dembe stayed in touch with each other throughout those two years since Liz passed away. But if they didn’t, it would be exciting to see how their reunion would be like.
Dembe has always been a great source of strength and support for Red. So, in The Blacklist Season 9, fans can expect that Dembe will continue to stand by his friend’s side.
