The Blacklist Season 9 will feature a new character named Weecha Xiu (Diany Rodriguez).
According to Deadline, Rodriguez's character has a tough physical presence and a hardened demeanor. She is also capable of defending herself against anyone who might threaten her or her associates.
No other information about Weecha has been released by NBC as of late. But the network confirmed that the Law & Order: Organized Crime alum will be featured in multiple episodes.
Will Weecha Xiu Replace Liz In The Blacklist Season 9?
In The Blacklist Season 8, the FBI Task Force was left with no other choice but to say goodbye to Liz (Megan Boone) following her death.
When the hit NBC series premieres this week, two years would've already passed so it only makes sense that new characters would already be part of the task force.
Even though the creators of The Blacklist Season 9 didn't explicitly say that Weecha will replace Liz, we can predict that the new character will have lots of responsibilities.
Weecha will most likely be a wonderful addition to the FBI Task Force especially since they need someone as strong and as powerful as Liz.
However, there's also a possibility for Weecha to not be part of the FBI Task Force. Will she be the team's newest adversary?
Anything is possible in The Blacklist Season 9. Luckily, fans do not need to wait much longer before Episode 1 premieres.
When Will The Blacklist Season 9 Premiere?
The Blacklist Season 9 Episode 1 will air on Thursday, Oct. 21 at 8 p.m. ET on NBC.
NBC released the official synopsis for The Blacklist Season 9 Episode 1 titled The Skinner last week.
"In The Blacklist, in the two years following the death of Elizabeth Keen, Raymond Reddington (Spader) and the members of the FBI Task Force have disbanded – their lives now changed in unexpected ways and with Reddington's whereabouts unknown. Finding themselves each at a crossroads, a common purpose compels them to renew their original mission: to take down dangerous, vicious, and eccentric Blacklisters," the synopsis reads.
The Blacklist Season 9 Episode 2 will serve as a continuation of Episode 1.
"A kidnapping poses a test for the capabilities of the task force as they contend with a mysterious pirating organization," the synopsis reads.
What Major Storylines Will Be Explored In The Blacklist Season 9?
One of the biggest mysteries in The Blacklist Season 9 has to do with Red's (James Spader) health.
In the previous seasons, there were hints that Red could be suffering from something serious. However, the writers have not revealed what the lead character is going through health-wise.
So, it's possible that Red's health will take center stage in The Blacklist Season 9.
Other than this, there are also predictions that a mole from the FBI Task Force will be introduced in The Blacklist Season 9.
On Reddit, one fan claimed that Vandyke (Lukas Hassel) didn't kill Liz because of his loyalty to Townsend (Reg Rogers). Rather, it's possible that he was hired by Cynthia Panabaker (Deirdre Lovejoy).
"I think he was hired by Cynthia Panabaker to carry out her burn notice. That sets up a new big bad villain for next season, but it's someone we are familiar with instead of some random new character. I could see her trying to eliminate the whole task force and Red, and they end up working together to hunt her down," the fan said.
Additionally, there are also predictions that Red and Ressler (Diego Klattenhoff) could team up to avenge Liz. After all, the two characters have a different but equally special relationship with the late character.
