According to Digital Spy, The Blacklist Season 9 will seemingly have a different focus. In the previous seasons, the series revolved around Red (James Spader) and Elizabeth (Megan Boone). However, Boone quit Blacklist at the end of season 8.

Now, there are predictions that the upcoming installments will center on Red getting revenge for the death of his daughter. He could also focus his attention on protecting Liz's daughter, Agnes (Katherine Kell) since his own daughter is no longer around.

In The Blacklist Season 8, Liz was shot during an altercation between Red and one of Neville Townsend's (Reg Rogers) people. Liz bled out and died. Since Red was the last person she was with before she died, he could be blamed for the character's demise.

Red's mysterious illness first came to light in Blacklist Season 6. It was later revealed that his deteriorating health was caused by some neurological problems.

In Blacklist Season 7, Red collapsed in one of the episodes. And just last season, he encouraged Liz to kill him so that she could take over his empire.

It's highly likely for Red's mysterious illness to be included in Blacklist Season 9. And if this happens to be the final season for the hit NBC series, it would just make sense for the writers to finally tell audiences what's really going on with him.

There are also predictions that Blacklist Season 9 would end with Red being killed off that is if this is the last season for the hit NBC TV show.

Following the finale episode, fans were wondering why Dembe felt the need to pull Red away from such an emotional moment. Some of them believe that it's because Dembe cares so much about Red and doesn't want him to suffer.

However, there could always be something more to the story. And whatever Dembe's reasons might be, it's possible that he will talk with Red about in Blacklist Season 9.

According to reports, Boone had a discussion with the creators of the series regarding her impending exit, and the decision was mutual.

Multiple publications confirmed that Boone decided to leave Blacklist after eight seasons so that she could appear in other projects.

Following her exit, the actress thanked everyone who made her journey as Liz worthwhile.

"This experience, for me, has been an entire life inside of my own life. These eight years playing Liz Keen have helped me better define the world and myself, as she set out to do the same... As her story ends I am grateful, most of all for the people I shared this time with my fellow cast members present and past, our incredible crew who carried every single day for all involved, and those of you we entertained," she wrote on Instagram.

Other than Boone, showrunner Jon Bokenkamp also decided to quit the series after last season. He shared the news via his social media account.

"I wanted to write you directly to let you know that I've made the difficult decision to leave The Blacklist. I love this show with all of my heart and it's been an incredible journey, but after eight years I feel it's time for me to step out of my comfort zone, try something new, and explore a few of the other characters and stories that have been crawling around in my head," he wrote.
