The Batman Director Matt Reeves Confirms Ben Affleck To Remain As Film’s Dark Knight

There was a lot of controversy when DC Extended Universe star Ben Affleck announced that he was stepping down from The Batman's director's seat to focus on his role as the Dark Knight. Like most fans, the Batman actor had been pretty disappointed with how Batman v Superman's cinematic release had turned out and many were hoping that Affleck would make some significant improvements on the DCEU by helming his own standalone movie for the caped crusader.

Though Warner Bros. has already hired War for the Planet of the Apes director Matt Reeves to take Affleck's place, many still worried that the actor would eventually quit his role as the film's star. However, now that Reeves has begun to work on The Batman, the new DCEU director promises fans that Affleck will certainly star as Bruce Wayne in the movie.

Speaking in an interview with Getty, Reeves confirmed Affleck's involvement after being asked about The Batman's current status and whether the actor would stay on with the project.

"Yeah, right now that's exactly what's going on, for sure."

It isn't very revealing, however this confirmation certainly does help appease worried fans. Viewers loved Affleck's version of Bruce Wayne when he debuted in Batman v Superman, praising the character as one of the most comicbook accurate versions of The Dark Knight to date.

There's no release date for The Batman just yet, however Affleck will reprise his role in Justice League this November 17.
