There is little doubt that people are still in shock after Tech's unexpected death in Star Wars: The Bad Batch Season 2. But is it possible that Tech didn't actually die in the season finale? Doctor Royce Hemlock may have already confirmed that the clone commando is still alive when he faced the rest of the team in Plan 99.
In The Bad Batch Season 2 Episode 16, Clone Force 99 was stuck in a rail car unable to escape Imperial forces. To help the rest of the team escape, Tech sacrifices himself and falls to his death. Doctor Royce Hemlock later confirms his death by presenting Hunter with Tech's broken goggles, claiming that it was the only thing they could find.
But was Hemlock telling the truth? Fans are convinced that Tech survived and was taken to Mount Tantiss so the scientist can experiment on him in a similar way as Crosshair. In addition to that, Hemlock himself possibly confirmed Tech's survival during the exchange with Hunter.
When Hemlock faced Hunter, he referred to Tech by his nickname instead of his clone designation number. As we have already seen with Imperial officers like Vice Admiral Rampart, they prefer to call the clones by their designation. In addition to that, the clones' nicknames are usually only known by their fellow clones and the only way Hemlock would have known Tech is called Tech is by asking another clone or Tech himself.
Although we are all hoping that Tech is still alive, it is important to remember that his survival has not yet been confirmed. Moreover, there is a possibility that Hemlock did his research on Clone Force 99 as soon as Lama Su told him about them and learned their names before Tech's sacrifice. Nevertheless, we are not giving up on the hope that Tech will be back in The Bad Batch Season 3.
