Tessa Thompson Believes Valkyrie Could Beat Marvel's New Villain

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania has commenced Marvel’s Phase 5 and despite receiving mixed reactions from fans and critics, it has successfully introduced Kang the Conqueror, MCU's newest big bad. Some emphasized that Jonathan Majors, who plays Kang, is the highlight of the film. With others note that he is powerful and scary enough to draw some heroes away.

Given that every villain has a hero that could take him or her down, Tessa Thompson, who plays MCU’s Valkyrie, argued that her character could defeat Kang if she would be given the chance. “No… I know also because he’s Kang in the MCU, so I don’t know if there’ll be a crossover at some point, and I actually have my chance to take him out. I believe [Valkyrie] could.” she said to Big Screen Little Screen.

Thompson and Majors are co-starring in the upcoming third Creed movie alongside fellow MCU actor Michael B. Jordan, who portrays Marvel’s Killmonger. Majors Kang has just been properly introduced in Ant-Man 3, and Thompson’s Valkyrie was last seen in Thor: Love and Thunder. The two have yet to be seen on the same screen in the MCU, but given that Kang is a major player in Loki and Valkyrie is known as an ally to the titular character's brother, Thor, their meeting could play out if the writers give it a chance.

Valkyrie is skilled with weapons, whether it's a blade, spear, or Zeus' Thunderbolt. She also has Asgardian physiology, which makes her stronger, faster, more durable, and heals faster than any human. Her comic book counterpart has additional abilities that would be beneficial to conquer Kang, but they are yet to be shown in the films.

Kang, on the other hand, is a difficult foe to defeat, as shown in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. Kang is a strong and capable fighter, even without his time-based abilities. With the two being powerful in their rights, it would be hard to determine who’s going to emerge victorious in their fight. The only way to find out is to wait to see if their encounter will take place in the MCU’s future.

Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania is currently playing in cinemas.
