Marvel Fans Demand Production Change After Ant-Man 3's Disaster

Fans' and critics' reviews of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania are pouring in, and they're mostly bad. Despite being one of the most important Marvel Cinematic Universe movies in recent years, this threequel wasn't able to bounce back from the underwhelming experience that is Phase 4.

Right now, Ant-Man 3 sits at a 48% Rotten Tomatoes score, making it tie with Eternals as the worst-rated Marvel Studios project to date. With that, the MCU's Phase 5 is officially off to a poor start, and fans are beginning to demand change and competence from the future projects of the franchise.

For Ant-Man 3’s mishap, the blame is being directed at Jeff Loveness, who wrote the screenplay, with critics claiming that the movie offers nothing beyond introducing Kang into the MCU. One fan took to Twitter to remind the fandom that Loveness is also the one to write Avengers: Kang Dynasty and other fans are already stating its potential to join the list of bad MCU offerings.

“I think Marvel is maybe done now, with [the] huge success of Infinity war/ Endgame that was their peak success. Now they have lost vision & direction. They haven't delivered even one good enough movie, Shang chi was close but not there. Idk if they even watch the movie before release,” another fan replied.

Aside from the Quantumania writer, the threequel’s director Peyton Reed is also being criticized for the disappointing result of the movie. Given that fans are currently experiencing superhero fatigue, there are high expectations that these money-making franchises should meet and give the audience the satisfying content that they deserve.

“Honestly the script wasn’t the worst part of the movie and I think it could’ve been a lot better with a different director. Peyton Reed just isn’t really fit for such a large-scale project…” user @DityDan commented.

Phase 5 of the MCU was supposed to uplift the morals of Marvel and liven up the interest of the fanbase, who as of late have been disappointed by the lackluster narratives and average VFX of the studio's recent output of TV series and movies. But Marvel is currently on a loop of producing mediocre offerings that haven't lived up to the fans' contentment since Avengers: Endgame.

Despite the unwelcoming reviews, Ant-Man 3 is currently the highest-grossing movie of 2023 after grossing more than $200 million worldwide, meeting the commercial targets that are expected from an MCU movie. But other than that, it has not earned anything, especially the fans’ love, which is the most important of all.

But as they say, a movie is a subjective experience because, despite the criticism, some fans still find the third installment a decent and enjoyable watch.
