MCU Fans Rank Their Best to Worst Phase 4 Movies Following Ant-Man 3's Release

With Marvel’s Phase 5 kicking off to an unpromising start, MCU fans can’t resist the urge to recall the not-up-to-par performance of Phase 4. As unwelcoming reviews hit Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, fans took to Twitter to rank their best to worst Phase 4 movies, with them including Ant-Man 3 despite it being part of the franchise’s Phase 5.

Twitter user @conquercomics asked their followers to rank the eight more recent MCU movies and the responses seem to contradict the critics’ reviews.

Fans' frequent answers show that Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Spider-Man: No Way Home, and Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings are well-received and ranked first, while Black Widow, Eternals, and Thor: Love and Thunder compete for the bottom spots unanimously.

Ant-Man 3 received negative reviews from critics at the time of its release, with a 48% Rotten Tomatoes score, although some fans tend to disagree. Despite the overambitious premise of the multiversal Spider-Man: No Way Home, it has successfully earned the approval of both critics and fans. Despite sharing the same ground, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania’s execution failed to evoke excitement from the majority, earning it a mixed reception.

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania takes chances with its Quantum Realm setting and the introduction of Jonathan Majors as Kang the Conqueror. However, no character or plot line offered a significant change by the end of the film. The film relied on the mediocre visual effects and pervasive comedy in Quantumania but didn’t grant any more reasons to be noteworthy for fans to give it a spot at the top of their rankings.

Given that fan ranking always emerges every time the MCU has a new offering, Doctor Strange director Scott Derrickson recently addressed a list that ranked the MCU's movies from worst to best. “I posted this because it places 'Doctor Strange' at #4. Otherwise, there are placements on the list I pretty much agree with and others that I strongly don’t. Most notably, I think 'Black Panther' and 'Captain America: First Avenger' are both ways too low.” he remarked.

He continued, “If there is a single MCU movie that I consider 'underrated' it’s First Avenger. It has one of the richest origin stories and is one of the most beautifully shot films in the entire Marvel canon... Second to last but yeah that’s too low - I like Ant-Man.”

Ant-Man 3 has a few more weeks in theaters, so fans are hoping that the sequel will receive more welcoming remarks to outnumber the bad, especially the ones from critics.

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is now showing at worldwide cinemas.
