With One Piece being a huge hit, anime fans should expect more live-action adaptations to come. In fact, there’s another one that’s coming to Netflix next year as the Teasing Master Takagi-san live-action series just got a March 2024 release date.
Along with a release announcement, this upcoming live-action series also got a first look through brand-new screenshots. These images also feature the two main stars of the show.
This is the latest in Netflix’s long line of anime live-action adaptations, and it might just be one to watch out for.
Netflix Has Yet Another Live-Action Anime Adaptation
For years now, Netflix has been releasing live-action anime adaptations. These include self-produced titles like Cowboy Bebop or projects that are straight from Japan like Fullmetal Alchemist.
It’s fair to say that Netflix’s track record has been mixed when it comes to these adaptations. However, it seems Netflix’s fortunes turned around recently thanks to the One Piece live-action series becoming a huge hit.
Given that show’s success, Netflix is likely going to stream even more adaptations in the future. Among these are previously announced shows like Yu Yu Hakusho, as well as the Teasing Master Takagi-san adaptation.
Instead of being produced by Netflix, this series is being made by Japan’s TBS, though Netflix will serve as the partner streaming platform for its global release.
This is a similar setup to the Kimi ni Todoke live-action show which was released a few months ago and was also a Japanese production but a Netflix-exclusive internationally.

Teasing Master Takagi-san Release Date Set in March 2024
Along with giving us a first look at new images, the show’s two main stars were also revealed. For starters, Takagi-san is played by Rui Tsukishima, an up-and-coming actress who starred in Kamen Rider Geats.
Joining her is Soya Kurokawa, a young actor who gained renown earlier this year for starring in the film Monster by Hirokazu Kore-eda (the creator of Netflix’s The Makanai: Cooking for the Maiko House).
Interestingly, this live-action adaptation is filmed in Kagawa Prefecture, which is also the setting of the anime.
The Teasing Master Takagi-san live-action series will be streamed on Netflix beginning in March 2024. New episodes will be released every Wednesday.
Thus, it’s expected that the show will begin streaming on either March 6 or 13.
Before the live-action adaptation airs, the Teasing Master Takagi-san manga will end, with its last chapter set to release on October 12, 2023.
