Kimi ni Todoke had a bit of a resurgence recently with the live-action TV drama. But now, fans have become even more excited as the Kimi ni Todoke anime is confirmed to return with Season 3 soon.
It has been over a decade now since the last anime season, so it comes as a bit of a surprise to see it get a new season from the same studio.
As with the live-action series, this upcoming series is licensed by Netflix, meaning it will be streamed globally on the platform.
Netflix Is Reviving Kimi ni Todoke With New Projects
Netflix has continued to beef up its anime content lineup over the past years, be it with exclusive anime streaming deals like with JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure or through live-action adaptations like the recent One Piece series.
Now, Netflix has set its sights on Kimi ni Todoke, a beloved shojo manga that was an iconic title among rom-com fans during the 2000s.
Its popularity, especially internationally, is thanks in large part to the two-season anime adaptation which aired from 2009 to 2011.
Despite being a popular anime, the show did not get renewed for a new season after that.
It seems Netflix has taken quite an interest in Kimi ni Todoke as it streamed the live-action drama adaptation back in March.
This isn’t too surprising given how popular the series is during its heyday. But it seems Netflix isn’t satisfied with just the live-action as the streaming giant has ordered a new season that’s coming next year.

Kimi ni Todoke Season 3 Is Coming to Netflix in 2024
Netflix revealed that a third season of the anime is in the works via its official anime X (formerly Twitter) account.
There, it was announced that the new season would be made by Production I.G, the studio behind the first two seasons.
Aside from the studio, it was also confirmed that the original voice cast members will reprise their characters, including Mamiko Noto (Mavis Vermillion in Fairy Tail) and Daisuke Namikawa (Hisoka Morow in Hunter x Hunter).
What’s interesting about the new season is that it will be a proper sequel to the original anime. This is a bit of a surprise given that some may have expected a remake to be made instead.
Kimi ni Todoke Season 3 will be released globally on Netflix sometime in 2024. Currently, there’s no word yet on a specific release date.
