Taisho Otome Fairy Tale Episode 7 Recap
Taiso Otome Fairy Tale is based on a manga of the same name. It tells the story of 17-year-old Shima Takahiko, the youngest son of a powerful family, who grew up without much affection. When he gets involved in an accident that kills his mother and permanently cripples his dominant arm, Takahiko's father banishes him to an isolated countryside residence.
There, Takahiko, who is suffering from depression, believes that he will die alone. To his surprise, a 14-year-old girl, Tachibana Yuzuki, appears at the door and proclaims that Takahiko's father sent her to be his future bride.

Unbeknownst to him, Tamahiko made a name for himself when he helped Ryo's siblings with their homework. As a result, other village children visit his house and ask him to teach them too. At first, Tamahiko is reluctant but he soon comes to enjoy his new role.
Ryo visits the couple again, for once not intending any mischief. While she still teases Yuzuki, jealous of her having found happiness in the most adverse circumstances, it's obvious that she has come to respect her and Tamahiko.
Tamahiko applies himself to his teaching role, while also trying to help Yuzuki more. One night, he finds her sitting outside in a pensive mood. Yuzuki reveals that she has just turned fifteen, making it legal for them to get married. After seeing Tamahiko's kindness, she isn't opposed to the prospect, but Tamahiko cuts her off.
In what seems like another one of his descents to melancholy and self-pity, Tamahiko declares that no one would be happy to be married to him as he is now. This time, however, he also points out that he wants to change. He no longer wants to be tied down by self-loathing; instead, he's finally decided to live a full life and grow into a person Yuzu can rely on. Tamahiko also reveals his intentions to go back to school so that he can be useful to others.
Yuzuki is delighted to hear that, but their happiness is cut short, as Ryo rushes to their house. Panicked, she tells them that her brother Ryotaro is missing. Earlier, Ryotaro had told Tamahiko that he would stop going to school and become a hired man in Tokyo.
Tamahiko finds Ryotaro, and realizes that, as someone who never had to work, he isn't really equipped to help. Even so, he tries to ease Ryotaro's fears, talking to him about working people he knew who seemed happy, filling the boy with hope.
Despite the rather cheerful tone, the episode leaves a melancholic taste, reminding us once again that the early 20th century could be a very cruel time, especially for children from lower socioeconomic backgrounds. The next episode will likely focus on Tamahiko's attempts to study and help more children like Ryotaro.
Taisho Otome Fairy Tale Episode 8 Release Date
The release date for Taisho Otome Fairy Tale is Saturday, the 27th of November. Fans in Europe, the US, and Canada will be able to access it from Friday, November 26 on Funimation. The episode's title is going to be "Tamahiko to School" meaning that it'll focus on Tamahiko's return to higher education.
