Sylvester Stallone Is Being Prepared For A Big Role in The Marvel Cosmic Universe

The announcement that Sylvester Stallone would be making an important cameo in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 surprised many fans – the action star who's been a household name in the Hollywood industry hasn't acted in any superhero movies ever since the 1995 Judge Dredd got panned by critics.

After it was revealed that Stallone was actually playing Stakar (otherwise known as Starhawk), one of the original Guardians of the Galaxy in Marvel comics, fans have been wondering whether they'd get to see more of the action star in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Though he's not sure about Stallone's appearance in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, director James Gunn tells the Toronto Sun that he plans to feature more of Starhawk in the Marvel Cosmic Universe.

"My plan is to see more of him. I'm not sure about him appearing in Vol. 3, we'll have to see about that, but it's our plan to see more of Stallone. Kevin [Feige] and I are working on what is going to become of the Marvel Cosmic Universe and where it's going to go. We plan to see the rest of them in the future."

"It's my plan to have Sly. And I talked to him last night — to find a place for him in the future of the Marvel Universe."

Given the fact that he's already talked to Stallone about finding him a place in the comicbook franchise, It seems like Gunn is pretty serious in having Stallone back in the burgeoning Marvel Cosmic Universe. Though it is disappointing that he may not be returning to Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, Gunn did reveal in an interview last week that there would be a new set of Guardians after the phase 3 of the MCU, so it's likely that the director would set Starhawk in the new team.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is slated to release on May 5, 2017.
