James Gunn: Infinity Gauntlet Is NOT The Title Of Avengers 4

A lot of fans thought that Guardians of the Galaxy actress Zoe Saldana had accidentally dropped the title for the fourth Avengers movie, and the internet was pretty sure that it was going to be called Infinity Gauntlet. Director James Gunn, however, says that Gauntlet isn't the title at all.

Talking with Yahoo Movies, Gunn confirms:

It's not the title. My guess is that Zoe just misspoke. I'll talk to Zoe today, but I would imagine that is just Zoe misspeaking and saying Infinity Gauntlet instead of Infinity War.

Looking back at the clip, Saldana clearly meant that Gauntlet was the second part of the movie, so we can deduce that she didn't misspeak when she talked about Infinity War. Here's the transcript:

"We're in the middle of it. I think the Guardians shot their part when it comes to Infinity War's, like, the first part, and we all have to go back for Gauntlet later this year.

Of course, Gunn is most likely knee-deep in the Marvel Cinematic Universe now, so if he says that Infinity Gauntlet is not the title of Avengers 4, then he's probably speaking the truth.

My initial guess is that Gauntlet is the working title for the movie — like the Han Solo movie is codenamed Red Cup — and Saldana didn't think that it was too big of a reveal. Plus, Marvel head Kevin Feige had confirmed that the title for Avengers 4 will apparently spoil Infinity War, and everyone is pretty sure that the Gauntlet will be at the center of both those movies.

Zoe Saldana returns as Gamora in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 which comes out May 5, and she and the rest of the Guardians will be back for the next two Avengers movies which come out May 4, 2018 and May 3, 2019.
