The Hollywood Reporter revealed that DC Studios has found the actress who will take on the role of Supergirl in the new DCU franchise.

House of the Dragon star Milly Alcock is set to play the DCU's Girl of Steel. She will make her debut in another DCU project before starring in Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow.

There is a possibility that she is going to be introduced in Superman: Legacy which is set to begin filming this March although there is no official confirmation regarding her potential cameo in the movie.

Gunn also confirmed Alcock's Supergirl casting on his social media post where he shared his excitement about her DCU involvement and praised the impressive audition that she did.

"This is accurate. Milly is a fantastically talented young actor, and I’m incredibly excited about her being a part of the DCU," he wrote in his Instagram post.

"Yes, I first became aware of her in House of the Dragon but I was blown away by her varied auditions and screen tests for #Supergirl. She embodies Kara as envisioned by @tomking_tk, @bilquis and Ana Nogueira."

There is no doubt that it is exciting news for fans who have been looking forward to hearing which actress they'll tap to play the new Girl of Steel and work alongside David Corenswet's Superman.

As we've seen in House of the Dragon, she is a talented actress and she is capable of doing a great job of playing the beloved hero in her new iteration.
