For the past few weeks, DC Studios has been undergoing a casting search to find the actress who will play the DCU version of Supergirl as they are set to reintroduce the hero in the rebooted franchise.
The character is set to star in her solo film Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, which is currently in development with Ana Nogueira attached to write the screenplay. She will also appear in other DCU projects.
Now, we have a new exciting update on the casting search as the field has been narrowed down to two finalists.
Milly Alcock and Meg Donnelly Are the Finalists for the DCU's Supergirl Casting Search
The Hollywood Reporter revealed the two actresses who did screen tests for the role of Supergirl as the finalists have been narrowed down.
Milly Alcock (House of the Dragon) and Meg Donnelly (Zombies) are named as the two finalists for the casting of DCU's Supergirl. Both of them underwent screen tests in Atlanta with James Gunn and Peter Safran present.
The report also confirmed that the character is going to be introduced in Superman: Legacy first before headlining her solo movie Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow.
Now that the two finalists have undergone screen tests, it is likely that we will hear an official word on who gets the role very soon and fans will definitely anticipate the news since the character is going to be crucial in Gunn and Safran's plans for the DCU.
Alcock made her breakthrough when she played the young Rhaenyra Targaryen in House of the Dragon and received acclaim for her performance in the series. Meanwhile, Donnelly already has a history with the character since she has voiced Supergirl in animated direct-to-video films.
