In the latest episode of the mystery and supernatural anime, Summertime Rendering reveals that shadow sickness is more than just a superstitious myth. Shinpei and the others must work together to learn more about the truth hidden behind the shadows if they are to live another day. Summertime Rendering Episode 3 Recap
The episode begins with Shinpei and Mio discussing the dangers of the Shadows or doppelgangers. While Mio is concerned about Shiori and her family, Shinpei decides to investigate on his own.
Shinpei finally makes it to the Koba Family Mart. The market is, as expected, closed. Shiomi, a local citizen, arrives while Shinpei ponders on the events he has witnessed previously. Shinpei is led to the Kobayashikawa household by Shiomi.
The Kobayashikawa household seems strange from the inside. First, someone had left the door open. Second, the television is turned on, and lastly, it looks like someone has just been there. Shiomi and Shinpei work their way into the house.
Shinpei recognizes the marks in the living room, which are the same as the ones he has witnessed before. He believes that the Kobayashikawa family has fallen victim to the hands of the Shadows.
In addition to this, he encounters the young Shiori, who has been afflicted by the shadow. In any case, both Shinpei and Shiomi reported the findings to the local police.
Moving on, Shinpei inquires of the locals about the young woman he met on the boat to Hitogashima. Unfortunately, he discovers nothing about her. He believes, however, that the young woman is more knowledgeable about the shadows.
Shinpei later runs into Mio and Totsumura at Kofune's Diner. He assures Mio that there is nothing to be concerned about and that the Koba family is in excellent condition.
Totsumura, on the other hand, gives Ushio's cellphone to Shinpei per her last request. Shinpei is unfortunate because, despite his curiosity about the phone's contents, he does not know its password.
Sou appears in the diner after a while. Shinpei makes the decision to tell Sou everything he knows. Despite being in a ridiculous situation, it's a good thing Sou understands Shinpei from the start.
Mio, Sou, and Shinpei agree to use a code whenever they meet to avoid raising suspicions with one another. They also decide to go to Karikiri to gather more information.
Before investigating, the group participates in the 61st annual summer festival of Hitogashima. Sou and Shinpei talk about Mio, while the latter joins Takiko in visiting every booth at the festival.
Suddenly, Shinpei is startled to see a young girl with blonde hair who resembles the deceased Ushio. He apologizes to his friends and follows Ushio's lookalike to the waters of Hitogashima.
