Suicide Squad Sequel & Deadshot Spinoff Are Happening

Sequels are usually a product of great one-shots that have potential for continuation.

From the looks of it, this is what Warner Bros. execs see when they look back at Suicide Squad. Now, everyone has his or her own opinion about the movie, as it had remained to be a big divider among fans, critics, and moviegoers alike.

Raves from fans and rabid disapproval from critics aside, Suicide Squad will have a sequel. And apparently, it's already in development, The Hollywood Reported confirmed. The news arrives in the midst of another announcement, which is the development of Gotham City Sirens, which will put Margot Robbie's Harley Quinn in the spotlight.

If that's not enough. the studio has also confirmed that it will be developing a spin-off series for Deadshot, who was portrayed by Will Smith in the original movie.

It would be interesting to see where exactly the studio is trying to take the Suicide Squad franchise. While the movie itself has seen success in terms of sales, and even won the award for Best Actress in an Action Movie, thanks to Robbie's efforts, the story itself seems to be a big disappointment to DC fans.

From the never-ending irritation with Jared Leto's Joker (method-acting will never be seen in the same light again) to the muddled idea of an ensemble cast, it seems that critics' voices are much louder than fans'.

Still, if Warner Bros. is looking at a sequel, it's possible that they have something up their sleeve. I just hope they'll take the same route that Ben Affleck is currently doing with Batman--and that is to not rush to cinemas by sacrificing the story.
