The total runtime of the final two episodes of Stranger Things Season is just shy of four hours which means the Duffer brothers have loaded a lot into them.

The gang from Hawkins is scattered across the world thanks to Joyce, Hopper, and Murray's conflict in Russia, with other groups taking care of other matters at once. It's likely that the final two episodes will bring them all together for the final showdown of Season 4. It's likely that we will see them team-up against Vecna, who was revealed to be One (001), the first superpowered child to be taken in by Dr. Brenner at the lab.

001 had been experimented on and chipped, with his blood being used to later breed a group of children with supernatural powers, including Eleven. It's likely that we will see Eleven face Vecna once again, and it will be up to the gang to assist her accomplish their mission in the Upside-Down.

Some fans are speculating that Will (Noah Schnapp) will confess he has feelings for Mike (Finn Wolfhard), causing a love triangle, as Mike is already Eleven's boyfriend.

However, don't expect Volume 2 to reveal the origins of the Upside-Down as the Duffer brothers already confirmed that Stranger Things Season 5 will explore that during an interview with Variety.

Who will most likely die in Stranger Things Season 4 Volume 2?

Stranger Things has never delivered an outright bloodbath, so don't expect a lot of main characters to die in the final two episodes of Season 4. However, the Duffer brothers teased that there will be deaths in Volume 2.

Sadie Sink, who plays Max, was the breakout star of Stranger Things Season 4 Volume 1, after fans watched her epic scene of her character escaping Vecna to the tune of Kate Bush's 1985 song Running Up That Hill. It would be shocking to see Max die in Volume 2 after what she experienced in Volume 1, but it's possible.

However, unlike Game of Thrones, Stranger Things is known to play it safe, so it's likely that the core group of kids will survive and are reunited for Season 5. The story centers a lot on Millie Bobby Brown's Eleven, so don't expect her to die in Season 4 Volume 2.

That leaves us with the show's young adults: Steve, Jonathan, Nancy, Robin, and Eddie. It's likely that one or more of these characters will die in the final two episodes of Season 4. Eddie was just introduced in Volume 1, but Stranger Things is known for killiing likeable characters in the same season they were introduced in.

Eddie reminds me of Sirius Black from J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter series because of how the entire town of Hawkins already want him arrested for murder that he didn't commit, so is there any other fate for him besides becoming a hero and sacrificing his life? The trailer for Volume 2 also hints that Eddie might sacrifice himself to protect his friends.

Steve might also make a heroic sacrifice. His death would shock Nancy, and it would also devastate Dustin. This would make great drama for the final season of Stranger Things.

While the cast members of Stranger Things Season 4 have been secretive about what will happen in Volume 2, there are a few details that have been revealed.

During an interview with EW, Vecna actor Jamie Campbell Bower claimed that there will be answers to Vecna's motivations, and more will be revealed about his backstory. He stated, “if you thought that it was as big as it could get, it’s not. It goes further, visually, story-wise, and emotionally for all characters. It really is quite an explosive climax.”

Noah Schnapp, who plays Will Byers, appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon to tease Volume 2, and apparently, it's going to be chaotic.

“You can expect from Volume 2, we’ve got some deaths coming, some gore, and a big–” Schnapp said, before Fallon stopped him before he potentially revealed something he shouldn’t. “I didn’t say who [dies],” Schnapp said.

The Duffer brothers also shared vague details about Vol. 2. Speaking to Variety, Ross Duffer said in an interview that “everybody is in danger [in Volume 2]. And there’s sort of an ominous feeling that things might not go well. Now whether they do or not, you’ll have to watch.”

Don't expect everyone to make it alive at the end of Stranger Things Season 4.

"I don't really want to say, but I would be concerned about the characters going into Volume 2, for sure," Ross Duffer told Empire Magazine. "I hope that that is sort of the sense, because it is a darker season and the kids are no longer kids. And there's sort of an ominous feeling that things might not go well. Now, whether they do or not, you'll have to watch."

Matt Duffer told EW that “the biggest thing that’s going to happen is [the show is] going to open up a little bit.” He added, “Not necessarily in terms of scale, in terms of special effects, but open up in terms of allowing plotlines into areas outside of Hawkins.”

Speaking to TV Line, Matt Duffer reveals why the new season feels different: "I'd be braced for anything, frankly — including a not-quite-celebratory vibe as the season draws to a close. Matt Duffer said. "is a little bit less hopeful than it is typically going into these finales, because our characters are at an unusual disadvantage in that they're so separated geographically. So it's a very different-feeling climax."

Some of the Stranger Things stars are also getting major camera time in Volume 2, such as Sadie Sink, who plays Max. “This is, in many ways, an anthemic season for Max and Sadie Sink,” Levy told EW. “The fourth episode, without giving anything away regarding later episodes in Volume 2, is a centerpiece episode for Max.”

Levy also revealed that there are a lot of emotions in the final two episodes: “There’s so much talk already about the scale and scope and run time of season 4, but I, for one, love the fact that it’s also huge in heart and that’s always been the actual superpower of this show,” he said to EW. “If it were only spectacle, it wouldn’t be a global phenomenon with characters that we root for with such emotionality and heart. As big and cinematic as season 4 has gotten, and it will get further in volume 2, it delivers on that heart.”

No, Stranger Things Season 4 is not the final season! However, the sad news is that the series is indeed coming to an end with Season 5.

"Without giving anything away, everything happens for a reason on Stranger Things," executive producer Shawn Levy told EW. "It's why we're gonna end things after season 5 because it's important to the [Duffer] brothers, and all of us who make the show with them, that we finish strong, stick the landing, and not tell one fragment of story more than has purpose. As you can see in season 4, we're taking a lot of strands — strands of character, strands of plot, strands of mythology — and we are giving explanations and weaving those threads together."

Unfortunately, fans will likely have to wait more than a year before the final season arrives on Netflix. You can read more details about the final season in everything we know about Stranger Things Season 5.
