Robin has become one of the fan-favorite characters in the hit Netflix series Stranger Things and we can credit Maya Hawke's performance as the reason why she has endured amongst the audience.

It also helps that the majority of her screen time was spent with Joe Keery's Steve, who is also a beloved character in the series. The two have been involved in a blossoming friendship for two seasons and fans are looking forward to seeing more of it in the final season.

As hinted by the fourth season finale, it looks like Robin will finally have her love interest in the final season as teased by the connection that they established between her and Vickie. However, as it turns out, Hawke herself has some qualms about the idea.

In an interview with Yahoo! Entertainment, Hawke admitted that she is having mixed feelings about Robin's potential romantic storyline in the fifth season as she prefers to see her character spend more with Steve and not rely too much on having a love life.

"It's both a great thing, and I also love characters where their love life is not the center of their existence," she said.

"That friendship with Steve is so special. And friendships have been carrying me through my life. I think they're really important and they deserve their airtime."

The actress behind Robin gave some valid points about the importance of not focusing too much on her character's romantic life and exploring her friendship with the characters around her such as Steve instead.

After all, friendship has always been the core of the series from the very beginning and it does make sense for them to double down on that aspect in the show's final season.

However, there is also still a way for them to showcase Robin's romantic life while still exploring her friendship with Steve. As long as the two can be balanced well, there should be no issue for them to explore both if the writers choose to.

For now, let's just wait and see what they have in store for the show's final season, especially with Robin's arc. Due to the ongoing writers' strike, pre-production is currently on hiatus and work is expected to resume once it is over.
