Stranger Things Directors Tease How Newcomers Will Add to the Show

New blood is coming to Stranger Things, and just as we were excited by the freshness of the cast from the first season, it seems that the creators are keeping the same treatment with this second run.

In an interview with ET Online, directors and brothers Matt and Ross Duffer and executive producers Shawn Levy and Dan Cohen all gathered around to talk a little about the casting decisions that they've made and how they will build up the show's world even more.

"To be honest, part of the fun of the show is we want people to discover these characters so we kind of actually resist big stunty name casting because we want people to meet the character as they are and be surprised by them."

Among the new ones is Sean Astin, who will be portraying Joyce Byers' new boyfriend Bob. And from what the showrunners have seen so far, his performance is something that fans may want to be ready for.

Levy added that his character is someone that will be memorable despite being a new face, and he may even play quite the role in propelling the direction of the season.

Paul Reiser is also joining the cast, and the showrunners revealed that his addition was something of a dream for them. and the reason they were able to get him was thanks to Reiser's kid, who loves the show.

It's good that the creators are sticking to their guns when it comes to how they operate Stranger Things from behind the camera. I personally can't wait to see the dynamics in the group with the two additions, especially with a new man in the Byers' life about to throw a huge stone and make a big ripple.

Stranger Things will be back on Netflix later this year.
