Star Wars: Who is Cut Lawquane and Will He Play a Larger Role in The Bad Batch?

We've already seen two episodes of The Bad Batch and the most recent one brought back yet another amazing character from Star Wars: The Clone Wars. But who is Cut Lawquane and why is his return so important in the animated series?

In The Bad Batch Episode 2, Clone Force 99 headed off to Saleucami where they reunited with Cut and his family. The former Clone Trooper is the one who tells Hunter, Echo, Tech, and Wrecker about the inhibitor chip embedded in their brain and what it does to their fellow clones. In return, the Bad Batch helps Cut and his family get safe transport out of the planet by procuring chain codes.

Cut is not a new character in the Star Wars Universe. He was previously introduced in the second season of Star Wars: The Clone Wars as a deserter who abandoned his squad after taking on a dangerous mission.

In the Clone Wars episode The Deserter, Captain Rex is injured while searching for Grievous in Saleucami. Luckily, he is saved by Cut who helps him fight off commando droids and gets him into safety.

Rex had originally planned to bring Cut in for deserting the Republic. However, he changed his mind at the last minute and allowed Cut to live peacefully with his family on the planet. Interestingly, the Bad Batch may have encountered Cut as well but never brought him in to face the Republic.

But will Cut play a larger role in The Bad Batch? For now, it is unclear whether the former Clone Trooper and his adopted family will return in the series. Nevertheless, we are hoping that they will find safety in a new home.

The first two episodes of The Bad Batch is now streaming on Disney+. The still-untitled Episode 3 will premiere on the streaming service on May 14.
