Star Wars: The Last Jedi May Have Linked Episode IX To The Clone Wars’ Mortis

Lucasfilm might have dropped a new trailer for Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, but the studio's still leaving a lot of questions for the Star Wars fanbase.

Now, a new Star Wars fan theory suggests that the sequel trilogy may have ties to the Clone Wars. According to a new theory making the rounds on Reddit, that scene where Rey (Daisy Ridley) falls into the Dark Side cave in Star Wars: The Last Jedi may actually mirror an important episode in Star Wars: The Clone Wars where the series explores the canon theory about the Mortis.

In the film, we get to see Rey enter the Dark Side cave to find multiple images of herself lining up in front of a glass that she hoped would lead to the truth about her parents. This Star Wars theory on Reddit suggests that the hand gestures that Rey makes in the cave match those made by mysterious creatures living in Mortis.

For those who aren't familiar with the place, Mortis is a realm that exists within the Force outside of the known universe in Star Wars' galaxy far, far away. The Mortis is inhabited by three powerful force-users. First is the Son, who represents the destructive and deadly aspects of the realm. There's the Daughter, represented by peace and creation. Then there's the Father who maintains the balance of the Force between the two.

These creatures seem like they could reflect a few characters that we know in the franchise. The Son could be Kylo Ren (Adam Driver), the Daughter could be Rey (Daisy Ridley), and the Father could be Luke (Mark Hamill).

It doesn't really seem like a far-fetched idea. The Last Jedi director Rian Johnson did admit that he'd seen and loved the Clone Wars episodes that involved the Mortis.

If this theory is proven true, then will we get to see Rey, Kylo Ren, and Luke become the Daughter, the Son, and the Father in Episode IX? Let's wait and see.
