In case you missed it, Star Wars debuted a new hashtag #TheMauldalorian which immediately started trending on Twitter this weekend. But could this mean that Darth Maul is set for a major comeback? The amazing trend has fans believing that Maul will eventually show up in The Mandalorian Season 2.
There is a good reason why #TheMauldalorian immediately captured the imagination of Star Wars fans. After all, it's an official hashtag that comes with a cool emoji of a Mandalorian armor helmet covered with red paint and sporting huge spikes. Needless to say, it was irresistible for fans of Maul and The Mandalorian who didn't waste time getting the hashtag to trend on Twitter.
But what does it actually mean? Not surprisingly, the hashtag has some people believing that it's connected to The Mandalorian Season 2 and Maul's possible return in the Disney+ series. However, the hashtag is actually out there to promote a completely different show.
The Mauldalorian hashtag was actually dropped after the premiere of Star Wars: The Clone Wars Season 7. Although The Bad Batch did not feature Maul or his Mandalorian Super Commandos (who allied themselves with Maul during the Clone Wars), the hashtag may have hinted at their return in the final season. This shouldn't be a huge surprise considering that the first teaser image for Season 7 showed Ahsoka Tano facing off against Maul but it would be cool to see the Mandalorian Super Commandos in action as well.
Oh, and if you were wondering about the emoji itself, it depicts the unidentified Mandalorian Super Commando Captain who modified his armor to show his allegiance to Maul. I don't know about you but I'm hoping that we'll learn more about this guy in The Clone Wars Season 7.
The Bad Batch is currently streaming on Disney+.
