In case you missed it, there was an interesting trend on Twitter yesterday. The premiere of Star Wars: The Clone Wars Season 7 came with a curious hashtag #TheMauldalorian which brings up an emoji of a Mandalorian armor helmet with red paint and spikes. Not surprisingly, fans can't stop using the hashtag to celebrate the return of the animated series and anticipate the return of Darth Maul.
If you check on Twitter, typing out the hashtag #TheMauldalorian instantly results in a special emoji depicting the Mandalorian Super Commandos, who once served under Maul.
So what does the hashtag mean? We're not sure about it just yet since we didn't see Maul or the Mandalorian Super Commandos in the premiere episode of The Clone Wars Season 7. Nevertheless, people are excitedly tweeting out their hopes on these characters possibly returning in the final season.
Interestingly, the hashtag trend comes at an ideal time. After all, Maul wielded the Darksaber when he led the Mandalorian Super Commandos as they took control of the Mandalorian Empire during the Clone War. Although we're not too sure yet if this means we'll see the spiky-helmeted Mandalorians this season, it's a brilliant tease and we wouldn't be surprised if this happens soon.
The first episode of The Clone Wars Season 7 focused on Captain Rex and Clone Force 99 as they went behind enemy lines to figure out why the Separatist forces are able to predict their battle strategies. It was then revealed that Rex's old friend Echo had actually survived the events in the third season and is being used as a living computer against them.
The Bad Batch is currently streaming on Disney+.
