Recently, we learned that beloved Star Wars Rebels character Ezra Bridger is officially making his live-action debut in the upcoming series Ahsoka with Eman Esfandi being tapped to play the role. However, at that point, it was unknown whether Lucasfilm has a long-term plan for the character as he is now embarking on the live-action screens.
Now, according to a scoop from notable industry insider Daniel Richtman (via The DisInsider), it looks like Ezra Bridger will be making more appearances beyond Ahsoka as they reported that Esfandi has also signed on to lead his own live-action series as the beloved character.
However, there are no specific details regarding the plot of the potential series or its production timeline. It is also unknown if it's going to be a live-action sequel to Star Wars: Rebels or possibly serve as a follow-up to the events of Ahsoka.
We do have to take note that this report has not been confirmed yet by Lucasfilm or reported by the major trades so we have to take it with a grain of salt. Considering that Richtman has revealed a lot of accurate scoops, there is a likelihood that the rumor could end up being true.
As we're seeing Lucasfilm expand the Star Wars franchise in live-action television a lot recently, it is not surprising to hear that they might also be doing an Ezra Bridger live-action series. After all, the character is also beloved and fans would definitely love to see him get his own series, especially if Esfandi's performance will end up getting praised in Ahsoka.
Since this is all just a rumor, we have to wait first whether this ends up being true. Either way, this is definitely an exciting prospect and an indication that we have more to look forward to in the franchise's small-screen venture.
