Star Wars: Ewan McGregor Weighs in on Mace Windu Surviving Revenge of the Sith

There is no shortage of theories in the Star Wars Universe and fans have regularly speculated on the return of certain characters. For instance, people (like Samuel L. Jackson) believe that Mace Windu might still be alive and survived the fall in Revenge of the Sith. But what do other actors have to say about this theory? Ewan McGregor has weighed in on the idea of Windu being alive despite what appeared to be an obvious death in Episode III.

It's no secret that Samuel L. Jackson is a firm believer that Mace Windu is alive and well, albeit missing one hand after his encounter with Emperor Palpatine in Revenge of the Sith. After all, Palpatine himself survived a similar fall in Return of the Jedi, right? However, it looks like Ewan McGregor isn't quite convinced that the Jedi Master is still alive.

"No. No. I don't think so. Is he? No, no, no," McGregor told Screenrant when asked whether he believes Mace Windu is alive. However, the interviewer reiterated that it might be possible considering that Boba Fett survived the Sarlacc pit.

"Anything is possible, I suppose. It's not for me to say, really. I can be cheating someone out of a sequel," McGregor said. He then added, "No, I don't think so. I think he went out that window, and it was a long way up."

It certainly sounds like McGregor is unconvinced that Mace Windu will be back. Still, Star Wars fans are not giving up on hope that the Jedi Master will eventually return. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.

In the meantime, Ewan McGregor reprises his Star Wars role in Obi-Wan Kenobi, which will also star Hayden Christensen, Joel Edgerton, and Bonnie Piesse. The series will premiere on Disney+ on May 27, 2022.
