Samuel L Jackson Says Mace Windu Could Return Despite Revenge Of The Sith Death

It looks like Samuel L Jackson is eager to return to the Star Wars franchise. The Avengers: Infinity War actor has just teased that Mace Windu may have survived his shocking death scene in Revenge of the Sith.

In Episode III, Windu almost defeated Chancellor Palpatine after it was revealed that the Chancellor is Darth Sidious. However, the desperate Anakin Skywalker attacked Windu to stop him from killing Palpatine. The Sith Lord then used Force lightning to throw Windu out a window. But despite his character's obvious fate, Jackson told Empire magazine (via Metro) that there's still a chance that Windu is still alive.

"You know, it's not that crazy that Jedi can fall from great heights and survive. And how many one-handed people are roaming about in that galaxy? Quite a few… I've still got the old Jedi spirit. I'm down," Jackson said.

He does have a point there. After all, one-handed Jedi seems to be a recurring thing in Star Wars. Unfortunately, Windu's death was important in Revenge of the Sith. Jackson admitted that he had begged George Lucas not to kill his character off but eventually realized it was inevitable.

"I was really the only person they could do something to in the movie to create some turmoil because everyone else shows up in the original films," he said. "I kept saying to George, ‘You sure about this? I can kill this dude – you know that, right?'"

Windu might not be showing up in the live-action films but there's still a possibility he will turn up in the final season of Star Wars: The Clone Wars. Unfortunately, Jackson did not confirm if the character is part of the animated series.

Star Wars: The Clone Wars will air on the Disney streaming service next year.
