It's official: Mary Elizabeth Winstead is joining the Star Wars Universe. Ewan McGregor has confirmed that his partner and Birds of Prey co-star is going to appear in Ahsoka and is ready to begin filming soon.
Vanity Fair has just published a feature on Star Wars that covers all the upcoming shows airing on Disney+. Ewan McGregor was also interviewed for the feature and he confirmed that Mary Elizabeth Winstead has joined the Star Wars Universe and will be working on the Ahsoka Tano series starring Rosario Dawson.
“My partner, Mary, is doing that Star Wars series with Rosario and she’s about to start,” McGregor said. He then added that his son with Winstead is expected to become a major part of the universe as well.
“Our little boy has been born into this massive Star Wars family,” McGregor said. “He will either embrace it or really go the other way. I don’t know. Maybe he’ll be a Trekkie!”
There were previous reports confirming that Mary Elizabeth Winstead has been cast in Ahsoka in an undisclosed role. However, Lucasfilm hasn't made an official announcement about her casting. Luckily, it looks like Ewan McGregor has confirmed it all for fans.
Ahsoka will follow Rosario Dawson's character as she continues on her mission to find Grand Admiral Thrawn in an effort to locate her missing friend Ezra Bridger. The series is also expected to bring back Star Wars Rebels characters and give them their live-action debuts later next year.
It was previously revealed that Ahsoka has begun production which explains why Ewan McGregor is confirming that Mary Elizabeth Winstead is getting ready for work. The Star Wars series is then set to premiere sometime in 2023. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.
