Star Wars Fans Defend Tiya Sircar After Ahsoka Announces New Sabine Wren Actor

In case you missed it, the Mandalorian spin-off series Ahsoka has just found its Sabine Wren. However, it has been revealed that the beloved character will not be played by original voice actress Tiya Sircar. Not surprisingly, fans are stepping up to defend the Star Wars Rebels actor for what is being seen as a major snub.

Deadline confirmed that Australian actress Natasha Liu Bordizzo has been cast as the live-action Sabine Wren in the Disney+ show focusing on Ahsoka Tano. The Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon: Sword of Destiny star will join Rosario Dawson, who is reprising her role as the former Jedi.

Bordizzo certainly seems like a great fit for the role and Star Wars fans are quick to admit that the Society actress would do an excellent job at playing Sabine. On the other hand, people are still disappointed that Tiya Sircar wasn't cast as the character she has played for several years.

It's no secret that everyone was expecting Sircar to be cast as Sabine in Ahsoka. After all, if The Mandalorian could bring in Katee Sackhoff to play Bo-Katan Kryze, it wouldn't be impossible to call on Sircar to reprise her own role. Fans have even pointed out that Sircar is the right age to play Sabine.

Lucasfilm and Disney may have their own reasons for casting a younger actor as Sabine. In addition to that, Bordizzo has already proven that she is amazing in action roles so we're looking forward to seeing her in the series.

Ahsoka had previously confirmed that Hayden Christensen will reprise his role as Darth Vader. This is the second major Star Wars show that will feature Christensen after Obi-Wan Kenobi, which will also star Ewan McGregor.

For now, Ahsoka has not yet been given an official release date. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.
