Star Wars: Ewan McGregor's Daughter Gets Meta Cameo in Obi-Wan Kenobi Episode 2

There is little doubt that people are enjoying the first two episodes of Obi-Wan Kenobi as they hunt for Easter eggs and spot secret cameos in the series premiere event. Interestingly, one of the coolest cameos is by Ewan McGregor's daughter and the exchange they have in Episode 2 is wonderfully meta.

In Obi-Wan Kenobi Episode 2, Kenobi heads for the planet Daiyu in search of the young Leia who had been kidnapped by bounty hunters. During his search, he is approached by Tetha Grig, a drug peddler who asks if he wants some spice. Instead, Kenobi asks for information, stating that he is looking for his daughter who was taken. Grig tells him that if she is on Daiyu, he will never see his daughter again because nobody leaves the planet and states that she was once someone's daughter too.

It's an interesting exchange considering that Tetha Grig is played by Esther McGregor, who happens to be Ewan McGregor's daughter. It was great to see the two in a scene together in Obi-Wan Kenobi and it's also comforting to know that Grig's free sample of spice helped Kenobi later in the episode.

Obi-Wan Kenobi is off to an awesome start as the first two episodes set the tone for the series. As Episode 2 concluded, Reva told Kenobi that Anakin Skywalker is still alive and Kenobi realizes in horror that his old friend had survived after their duel on Mustafar. With that in mind, things are set to change in Kenobi's mindset and hopefully, he will be ready for another fight against Darth Vader.

The third episode of Obi-Wan Kenobi is simply titled Part III and will still be directed by Deborah Chow. The episode is set to premiere on Disney+ on Wednesday, June 1, 2022.
