Star Wars: Episode IX Trailer Won’t Release Till April

Star Wars fans were pretty disappointed by the obvious lack of Star Wars trailers during the Christmas and New Year holidays last year. Disney had been dropping trailers for Marvel and for its upcoming reboots left and right. Early in December Marvel fans got new footage for Captain Marvel and for Avengers: Endgame while Disney fans got a look at The Lion King. Seeing the spree, Star Wars fans hoped they'd get a tiny taste of Star Wars: Episode IX, only to be disappointed by Lucasfilm's silence.

Now, it looks like the round ball of disappointment's just about to grow a bit larger. While some continue to hope for a trailer this January, word has it that the official trailer for Episode IX may not see release till April this year.

According to a report by Inverse, it seems more and more unlikely that the Episode IX trailer would drop this month. Lucasfilm doesn't seem to want to break the tradition it's made for its sequel trilogy. Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens might have gotten an early teaser to help hype up the return of the Star Wars franchise, but Star Wars: The Last Jedi took a while to begin its marketing campaign with its first teaser seeing release in April during the 2016 Star Wars Celebration.

Now, if Episode IX were to follow The Last Jedi's pattern, then the teaser trailer might drop this April during the Star Wars Celebration in Chicago. After all, Episode IX is still more or less a year away from its premiere. January would just be too early for a teaser trailer.

When do you think we're getting the teaser for Episode IX?

Star Wars: Episode IX hits cinemas December 20, 2019.
