Star Wars: Episode IX Crew’s Gifts Reveal New Details About The Movie

Star Wars fans might have been disappointed by the obvious lack of Star Wars trailers and announcements during the Christmas and New Year holiday season, but it looks like signs are beginning to point towards the start of Episode IX's marketing campaign with crew members taking to social media to reveal the gifts they received from director J.J. Abrams.

One Star Wars fan on Reddit decided to share a picture of the gifts that were allegedly given by Abrams, saying that the gifts first came from a member of the first unit crew of the sequel to Lucasfilm's Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

Here's what was written down in the gift bag's note signed by Abrams, Lucasfilm Head Honcho Kathleen Kennedy, Episode IX producer Michelle Rejwan, and executive producer Callum Greene.

"Dear cast and crew of Episode IX: There are no words to properly express our gratitude and amazement – your work has been next-level spectacular, and you've done it all with kindness and respect. There are no words, but there are jackets!"

In the picture, fans get to see two different bottles with unknown items. According to a Redditor who seems to have some sort of inside information about these gifts, the bottles contain sand from a familiar planet and beans from a Jedi-eating beast.

"So for those asking about the bottles: The sand, and it is really fine sand is from a sacred place on a familiar planet. The beans are something to do with 'a Jedi eater' whatever that means. It'll all be clear in December and all NDAs aside I really know nothing more apart from they are one of the coolest gifts I've ever received!"

This is big news for Star Wars fans. Leaked set photos showed John Boyega's Finn exploring a desert area. Now, with this new information in mind, it seems very likely that this desert planet might be familiar to us – perhaps Tatooine, or Jakku, or maybe even Jedha. Of course, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story's Jedha fits the description the most. After all, the planet is both sacred and familiar.

This new gift bag also reveals a new creature in Star Wars galaxy far, far away – one that has a taste for Jedi. We bet we'll get to see Rey (Daisy Ridley) running into one in the movie.

Star Wars: Episode IX premieres December 20, 2019.
