Star Wars: Episode IX Leaks Say Han Solo Might Return

Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) might have driven a lightsaber straight through his father's gut as a testament to his loyalty to the Dark Side in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, but with so many other characters returning in Star Wars: Episode IX, rumor has started going around saying that Han (Harrison Ford) just might return in the third and final chapter of the sequel trilogy.

A Redditor (via Cosmic Book News) claiming to have a wife working in Pinewood Studios just recently teased "Han is Back." While the legitimacy of a simple Reddit post is so easy to question, this same person released an image of Episode IX New Year goodies gifted by J.J. Abrams himself.

The image went around the site for a good while last night, giving away new details about Episode IX. Aside from a production T-shirt, the gift also contained two bottles, one of which contained sand from a very "familiar" and "sacred" planet, the other of which contained beans from a "Jedi-eating beast."

The post didn't last a day on the site, but that was enough for fans to take notice of the image. The fine sand from a very "familiar" and "sacred" planet could very well mean the return to Rogue One: A Star Wars Story's Jedha, a planet but desert-filled and sacred to the Jedi. The "Jedi-eating beast" could very well be a new creature that Rey (Daisy Ridley) encounters in Episode IX – something we're excited to see in the film.

Of course, as with any post made online, fans ought to take this new rumor with a grain of salt. Anyone can say anything online, really. We'll just have to wait for some confirmation from Lucasfilm.

Star Wars: Episode IX premieres December 20, 2019.
